Will All Smoking Be Banned Soon?
Filed Under: Cigar Industry News, Cigars, Current Events, Featured, Smoking Bans - Restrictions
Seems like Congress may be intent on banning all smoking products in the future. Kind of takes us back to those good ‘ol days of the Prohibition, when the government banned all alcohol products! That would mean we are actually regressing as a nation wouldn’t it?
What ever happened to the phrase “Land of the Free”? Oh, I forgot, Congress knows what’s best for us!
Congress will soon be taking up some measures that would allow the FDA to regulate tobacco products either now or in the future. The more severe regulations would:
- Allow federal agencies, states, counties and cities to ban the sale of cigarettes and smokeless tobacco products.
- Banning all in-store color advertising of cigarettes and smokeless tobacco products
- Extending the same regulations to cigars, pipe tobacco and RYO in the future.
Of course if they actually ban the products they will lose the tax revenues that cities and states rely on, especially now. But don’t think Congress is bright enough to not shoot itself in the foot!
